Motorcycling New Zealand confirm that two competitors were critically injured at the Sound of Thunder racing event held in Christchurch on Saturday 24th February 2024. 

The two competitors were involved in a racing incident, emergency services and Police attended the scene, the riders were taken to hospital in a critical condition where they remain.  Our thoughts are with them and their family and friends. 

Motorcycling New Zealand will be offering support to those involved and will be reviewing the incident as well as cooperating with agencies involved.
