BOARD MEMBERS – MOTORCYCLING NEW ZEALAND

Motorcycling New Zealand is the national sport organisation for Motorcycle Sport in New Zealand.  The Motorcycling New Zealand Board has seven Board members elected, and the ability to co-opt two additional Board members for their specialist knowledge and skill.  The additional co-opted members do not have voting rights.

Motorcycling New Zealand is looking to appoint one Board member to fill the vacancy of the Road North Island position through to May 2025.

The Board are seeking expressions of interest from “Officials” as outlined in the Constitution of Motorcycling New Zealand.

“4.1.4 Officials
Must be members of an affiliated club as defined by Rule 4.3 of the Constitution and either appointed by the GB or elected at a General meeting as a steward, commission member or GB member.  Such person shall hold membership rights as a Full Member for the period of their appointment without payment of current subscription or levies.  Such membership may be revoked by the GB for serious misconduct.”

Motorcycling New Zealand seeks to attract someone with experience, networks and skills that will add value to the Board and governance leadership of the organisation.

Ideal Applicant

The application would have the following attributes and abilities:

  • Good knowledge of the sports sector and an understanding of Motorcycling.
  • Understand the position of the organisation and its relationship to key stakeholders, including Members, Officials and Volunteers.
  • Ability to interpret financial statement.
  • Strong personal character and skills

It is important MNZ that there is gender balance on the Board, we particularly encourage applications from Women.

The backgrounds that we are seeking are:

  • An appreciation for sport.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, and experience
  • Experience in Governance and strengths in HR and or working with volunteers
  • Knowledge and experience in the management of risk; financial, contractual and reputational.
  • Knowledge in Health and Safety an understanding of legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities to staff, athletes and volunteers in health and safety including wellbeing.
  • Proven ability at strategic level

This is a voluntary role, the Board holds monthly virtual meetings, with one-in-person meeting every quarter.  As well as the AGM which is traditionally held in May each year.

All travel expenses to attend meetings are reimbursed.
