Motorcycling New Zealand will this weekend celebrate success in the sport while looking to establish further training, development and safety programmes to secure its future.
The 2025 Motorcycling New Zealand (MNZ) Conference and Annual General Meeting will be held at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, Wellington, from Friday through to Sunday (May 23-25).
“We have had many positive developments in our sport over the past year and plenty of reasons to celebrate,” President Mike “Big Mac” McLeod says.
“This weekend’s conference is an opportunity for MNZ staff and club delegates to build an even brighter future.
“The conference includes workshops where commissions covering all aspects of the sport – road-racing, motocross, enduro, trials, women and cross-country – will recall the successes of the past year and discuss plans for the future.
“Nationally, the premier championship events have all been successful and this has been due to a huge amount of work and passion for the sport from our staff, officials and volunteers.
“It is also a time to pay tribute to all those people who play such a vital role in ensuring the growth of motorcycle sport at grassroots and regional levels.
“We are proud, too, of our international successes in road-racing, supercross, junior and senior motocross and enduro.
“We are looking forward to building on the success of the past year to advance the sport of motorcycling in the coming year and beyond,” McLeod says.
“Sadly, it is also a time to pause and quietly reflect on the darker realities of a sport we all love.
“Several fatalities have rocked our tight-knit motorcycling community.
“We offer our support to the families and friends of those involved and we will continue to work on making our exciting sport as safe as it can be.”
