The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), in close partnership with Motorcycling Australia (MA), proudly reports the continued success of its FIM Mentoring Programme, a three-year initiative launched in August 2023 to support Motorcycling New Zealand Inc. (MNZ) in achieving its strategic development goals.
In the programme’s second year, MA once again stepped up as the designated mentor federation, deploying a team of specialists to New Zealand for an intensive series of track standards training and mentoring sessions. The most recent trip in 2025 included three full days of onsite education across both the North and South Islands, offering MNZ personnel hands-on experience and practical insights into track inspection and safety standards.
Expert Guidance and Practical Training
The MA delegation, composed of Tom Williams (MA National Chief Track Inspector), Peter Smith (MA Chief Training Officer), and Peter Doyle (MA CEO), provided in-depth training focused on the development and implementation of MNZ’s official track standards. This collaborative work has culminated in the upcoming launch of MNZ’s new Track Standards documents, crafted with direct guidance from MA and aligned with global best practices promoted by the FIM.
MNZ has expressed strong satisfaction with the training outcomes and delivery, citing the clarity, quality, and professionalism brought by MA’s personnel. These results further affirm the effectiveness of the FIM Mentor Training Programme in elevating the safety and professionalism of motorcycling sport across the region.

Peter Doyle, CEO of Motorcycling Australia and FIM Oceania President, shared his reflections on the programme’s progress:
“Motorcycling Australia (MA) is very pleased with the results of the second year of the FIM Mentor Training Programme as we continue to support Motorcycling New Zealand (MNZ).
With this important FIM initiative, the mentor programme has once again allowed MA to send specialised Australian Federation experts to New Zealand to provide dedicated training in the trackside environment, which ensured a detailed education experience to the MNZ personnel.
One of the strong benefits of the FIM Mentor Programme is being able to build a strong relationship between personnel from different FMNs during the in-person training. This creates the opportunity for the sharing of knowledge and experiences which help improve our sport. We look forward to continuing with this project and seeing further positive outcomes for Motorcycling New Zealand thanks to the FIM Mentor Programme.”
