MNZ Register of Interest – NZSBK 2026 Officials Observation Initiative

Issued by: Officials Commissioner, Motorcycling New Zealand
Registrations Close: 14 days before each NZSBK round

📌 Purpose

Motorcycling New Zealand is inviting Officials — from trainee through to Grade 4 across disciplines — to register their interest in participating in structured one‑day observation sessions at the 2026 NZSBK Championship rounds.

This initiative is designed to strengthen officiating skills through face‑to‑face training and practical exposure in a live event environment.

📝 Key Details

  • Observation Format: One‑day sessions, with up to two sessions held at each round (subject to club agreement). Programme Outline
  • Priority: Local Officials will be considered first.
  • Registrations: Must be submitted no later than 14 days before each round.
  • Selection: Successful applicants will be contacted with confirmation and further details.

👀 Observer Expectations

Observers will:

  • Sign the Officials’ sign‑in sheet on arrival.
  • Watch selected aspects of event operations — from riders’ briefings through to protests.
  • Respect confidentiality: if you hear or see anything not normally for public consumption, you must not share this outside the observation group.
  • Treat the initiative as training, designed to strengthen officiating skills through practical exposure in a live event environment.

📅 NZSBK 2026 Rounds

  • Round 1: Christchurch (Ruapuna) – 31 Jan–1 Feb
  • Round 2: Invercargill (Teretonga, Burt Munro Challenge) – 7–8 Feb
  • Round 3: Hampton Downs – 7–8 Mar
  • Round 4: Taupo – 14–15 Mar

✅ How to Register

  • Complete the Register of Interest form (found HERE).
  • Submit by the 14‑day deadline prior to the round you wish to attend.
  • Confirmation will be sent to selected observers.

This initiative will not affect the running of the day. It is designed to provide practical learning opportunities, build confidence, and strengthen the officiating community across New Zealand.

Ngā mihi nui,
Officials Commissioner
