The FIM World Supercross Championship for 2026, which was scheduled to hold its final in Christchurch, New Zealand, at the newly developed One New Zealand Stadium in December, has been cancelled. World Supercross announced yesterday that it was with regret, that the 2026 FIM World Supercross Championship season would conclude with immediate effect.
Only the opening round, held at Calgary, Canada, has been held so far with Cooper Webb winning the SX1 and Max Anstie winning the SX2 divisions. The only New Zealander in the field is Brodie Connolly, of Tauranga, who looked sharp in Canada’s to level up with fifth equal from the Championship opener.
World Supercross remains in advanced discussions with potential investors regarding the future of the series. While those discussions continue, the decision has been taken to conclude the current season.
“The decision has not been taken lightly,” World Supercross said via a statement. “We continue to believe strongly in the series, its global potential and the opportunity to build on the foundations established to date. We remain optimistic that the ongoing discussions will reach a positive conclusion and provide a strong platform for the future of the championship.”
World Supercross wanted to thank its riders, teams, partners, venues, staff, fans and everyone who had supported the series throughout the 2026 season.
Further information regarding the future of World Supercross will be provided in due course.
