Exciting Opportunity: Join the Team to represent New Zealand at the FIM Oceania Trans-Tasman Junior Challenge

18 September 2024 | All News, Road

We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for you to represent Motorcycling New Zealand at the FIM Oceania Trans-Tasman Junior Challenge to be held from the 8th to 10th November at The Bend Motorsport Park, in South Australia, coinciding with the final round of the Australian Superbike Championship.   We are currently inviting expressions of interest for our representative team and would love to hear from you if you would like to be part of this exciting journey.

This is a unique chance to showcase your talent on a broader stage and compete alongside fellow top athletes.  Being a part of this team not only enhances your competitive experience but also opens doors for personal growth and development in a Trans Tasman rivalry through the spirit of competition.

There will be some funding available to support your participation.  However, please note the majority of the costs will need to be covered by the competitors themselves.  This includes expenses such as bike hire (entry), travel, accommodation, and licence ( FIM International Licence).   In terms of the costs, please be aware that wet weather tyres are not included in the provided support, should you require them the cost will be your responsibility.
The opportunity is set up like the usual OJC riders with an OJC spec Yamaha R15, dry weather Dunlop tyres, mechanical and rider coaching support, access to Ricondi leathers, boots and gloves and OJC clothing.  You will be responsible for any costs related to damage to motorcycles and riding gear, this includes repairs or replacements for any damages incurred while using the items.
You will just need to pack your helmet and licence!

While there is a financial commitment involved, we believe the value of this opportunity far outweighs the costs.  This experience will provide you with:

  1. Exposure:  Compete at a high level and gain recognition
  2. Networking:  Connect with other talented athletes and professionals in the sport.
  3. Growth:  Enhance your skills and experience through intense competition, using a recognised road to MotoGP programme.

If you are interested in applying, and are aged between 11 to under 16 years (as of January 1st 2024), please submit your application.  In your application include:

  • Completed application form
  • A brief personal statement outlining why you want to be part of the team and what you hope to achieve
  • Your recent competitive results and achievements
  • Any relevant experience that highlights your readiness for this opportunity

We encourage all young riders who are passionate and committed to apply for this fantastic opportunity.  Don’t miss out on the chance to represent Motorcycling New Zealand and make your mark on a larger stage.

We look forward to your applications and supporting you on this exciting journey.

Applications close on the 30th September 2024, and should be submitted to [email protected]
