MNZ announces opportunity for Women Competitors to represent New Zealand at the 2025 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup

30 December 2024 | Motocross

Motorcycling New Zealand is pleased to announce an opportunity for Women competitors to represent New Zealand at the 2025 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup to be held alongside round one of the 2025 Penrite Pro MX Championship in Wonthaggi (Victoria) on March 22 and 23.

After the success of the 2024 event held in conjunction with the New Zealand Motocross Grand Prix (Woodville), the 2025 event has teams not only from New Zealand and Australia but also America and Africa, providing a unique opportunity for our competitors to compete against riders from other parts of the world without travelling outside of our continent.   Each team will have five riders, 20 riders will contest three motos over the weekend, the first one a standalone shootout on Saturday, and on Sunday as part of the two televised ProMX Championship MXW battles.  The best 14 results from each team (i.e. a team can drop its worst result) will determine the final standings.

This is an opportunity to showcase your talent on a broader stage and compete alongside fellow top athletes, at an event with live television coverage.  Being part of this team not only enhances your competitive experience but also open doors for personal growth and development.

There will be some funding available to support your participation.  However, please note some of the costs will need to be covered by the competitors themselves.  While there is a financial commitment involved, we believe the value of this opportunity far outweighs the costs.   This experience will provide you with:

  1. Exposure
Competing at a high level to gain recognition.
  2. Networking
Connect with other talented athletes and professionals in the sport
  3. Growth
Enhance your skills and experience through intense competition, against the best Women riders from three different countries.

To be selected for the team you must:

  • Be 15 years old, or over, on the 22nd  March 2025
  • Hold a MNZ Licence
  • Hold a New Zealand passport
  • Complete the Rider Application form by 5pm Monday 20th January 2025
