The New Zealand Trial Team is set to compete at this weekend’s FIM Oceania Trial Championship, held in conjunction with the New Zealand Trials Championship, where they will line up against top international competition from Australia.

The Team that is made up of a mix of youth and experience includes:

Jim Henderson (T5)

James Lawton (Junior)

Hannah Rushworth (T4 – Women’s)

Gabby Gundry (T3 – Women’s)

Phil Shilton (T2)

This is a great opportunity for our riders to test themselves against international talent on home soil.  Having the Australian team here adds an extra level of competition and excitement for both the riders and spectators. The Australian team has been named as:

Joshua Coleman (T2)

Jenna Lupo (T3/Women’s)

Michelle Coleman ( T4/Women’s)

Hector Pinto (T5/Junior)

This year marks 50 years since the first FIM Oceania Trial Championship was held in 1975, then known as the ‘Trans Tasman Trophy Challenge’.  Riders in each class will be ranked daily and, after all three competition days, points from all eligible classes will be totalled and the nation with the highest total will be declared the FIM Oceania Trial Champion.

Trials enthusiasts can look forward to a weekend of incredible skill, balance and precision as riders navigate the demanding sections set across natural terrain of rocks, logs and creek beds.  Spectators are encouraged to come along and support the team, with riding starting from approximately 10am each day (for riders the sign on starts at 8.45am).

The events is to be held over three days in the Taranaki region.

Saturday October 25th – 54 Korito Road, New Plymouth

Sunday October 26th – 785 Durham Road Upper, New Plymouth

Monday October 27th – 899 Alfred Road, New Plymouth
