Exciting Three-Day FIM Oceania Trial Championship concludes with a narrow victory for New Zealand

31 October 2025 | All News, Trial

The FIM Oceania Trial Championship held in conjunction with the New Zealand Trials Championship wrapped up three days of competition across challenging terrain, delivering excitement and some drama for competitors.

Weather played a key role on the final day, testing rider’s skills and adaptability, but did little to dampen the spirits of competitors.   There were some new challenges and terrain for the Australian team, however, they brought close competition to the weekend.

In a close finish, the New Zealand team (Phil Shilton, Gabrielle Gundry, Hannah Rushworth, Jim Henderson, James Lawton) emerged victorious, clinching the win by just one point.  The close result highlighted the high level of talent and determination on display throughout the event.

It was fantastic to see everyone rise to the challenge of the terrain and conditions said Peter Gledhill, MNZ Trials Commissioner.  We were especially thrilled to welcome our Australian friends and showcase our event to them.  Congratulations to New Zealand on a well-deserved victory.

The event also celebrated the growing participation of women in the sport, with several outstanding female riders taking part and showing exceptional skill and determination, with four Women in the FIM Oceania Trial Championship, two from each country (Gabrielle Gundry & Hannah Rushworth – New Zealand, Michelle Coleman & Jenna Lupo – Australia).

A special thanks goes to the event organisers, whose hard work made this event possible and ensured a great event.

Congratulations to all competitors who took part in the New Zealand Championship – your commitment and performances made this year’s event a memorable one.

We look forward to continuing the FIM Oceania Trial event next year, with host country and venue to be announced, building on this year’s thrilling competition and further strengthening the connection between riders from both countries.
