Motorcycling New Zealand advises that four-times World Motocross Champion Courtney Duncan has unfortunately had to withdraw from the team selected to compete at the FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup, due to be held in Wonthaggi this weekend. This is a precautionary measure after she broke her ribs in a heavy fall in training this past week.
“I’m disappointed not to be able to represent New Zealand at the FIM Oceania Women’s Cup this weekend,” Duncan said,”I was really looking forward to competing at this event – it’s always an honour to represent the fern especially alongside this team of women. Team events are quite different from my normal racing schedule, and so I was excited and well-prepared for this one. I wish the team every success there in Wonthaggi.”
Stepping into the team will be our named reserve rider, Milla Dahlenburg. The young rider from Nelson is nearing her 17th birthday and brings both talent and determination to the line-up. Milla is no stranger to the event, having competed in the FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup last year. That experience will serve her well as she joins the team to represent New Zealand on the international stage.
In a whirlwind change of plans, Milla is currently away on a surf camp and will be collected and put straight on a flight to Melbourne to join the team ahead of the event.
While it is always disappointing to lose Courtney from the line-up, we are confident Milla will rise to the opportunity and contribute strongly to the team effort.
We look forward to seeing our team of, Amie Roberts, Karaitiana Horne, Mikayla Griffiths, and Milla Dahlenburg competing at the FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup this weekend and wish them all the very best.
