Errol Conaghan was the first President of MNZ, a position he was elected to in 1994 when the organisation changed its name from the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union to Motorcycling New Zealand.

Long a member of the Judiciary Committee and still the go-to person for anything to do with the Manual of Motorcycle Sport or constitutional matters, Conaghan was made a Life Member of MNZ in 2005 in recognition of his commitment and dedication to the sport.
