Senior Motocross Nationals R3 Update

22 February 2023 | All News, Motocross

Unfortunately with the devastating effects of cyclone Gabrielle of the Hawke’s Bay region, the 19 March Round of the 2023 Motocross Nationals has been cancelled at this venue.

All of our sympathy and thoughts are with everyone there and especially the committee and members on the Hawke’s Bay Motorcycle Club.

After numerous discussions with the club, stakeholders and other parties involved with the series, there was a large consensus that the series continued to be 4 rounds.
After exhausting all alternative scenarios and then deciding to run with clause 31 in the supplementary regulations for these events:
“Should either rounds 1, 2 or 3 be cancelled prior to the start of practice/qualifying, Saturday 25th March will be the postponement date. This will be run at the Taupo Track. Therefore, the final weekend of racing will become a two-day event.”

We feel this is the best option to complete the series with Saturday being round 3 and Sunday being round 4. This will be followed by prize giving on Sunday night. A massive thank you to the Taupo club and committee for taking this on, and I am sure it will be a spectacular two days of racing.

Saturday will consist of practice/qualifying and 3 rounds of racing

Sunday will consist of practice/qualifying and 2 rounds of racing including the YZ65 cup

With having made this decision early MNZ hope you can all re arrange your travel and accommodation plans accordingly, without too many issues.

It will be some time before any racing will be done in Hawke’s Bay, but we look forward to that day and will support them how we can.

Round 2 is this weekend, Sunday 26 February, in Rotorua, do you have your entry in?

We need your entries in to support these events.

If you are not racing come, spectate, and see our top riders in action. It makes for a great day.
